What the Seller Says:

Things you love about you town:

The old buildings, the people we've met, the location, the amenities, the view of the mountains, the weather, the winding roads to explore, the ethnic diversity, smiles and waves from strangers, winter views and summer views (come winter and leaves are off the trees you see a lot of things you never have seen when the trees were full).

Tell us something about your neighborhood:

We love our neighborhood. You're only a stranger here once, then you are home. A special blend of people from all walks of life and parts of the country and interests. We enjoy our neighborhood cookouts, life celebrations, and each other. A most caring and supportive group of people. Neighbors who watch out for each other but are not intrusive.

Where do you love to eat:

We love to eat at any of the great restaurants in Greenville. It's a treat to take in a show at the Peace Center and be within walking distance of a variety of cuisines; anything you crave, you can find in Greenville and the surrounding area. Brevard, North Carolina is a short drive "up the mountain" with many fine restaurants to satisfy your taste buds. You can grab a great breakfast or lunch at Holly Springs Store or the gas station in Pumpkin Town.

Grocery stores and other conveniences?

About anything you need is just a short drive away: two grocery stores, two hardware stores, post office, cleaners, sporting goods store, a few fast food places, churches of various denominations, a 44 bed hospital with ER services, and even a museum with numerous exhibits.

What were you drawn to when you bought the property:

We looked at several places in the area but lost our hearts when we found this home. The peacefulness of the area, stars so bright almost close enough to touch, bright blue skies, the sound of the creek, fireflies, variety of outdoor activities, deer in the yard, and a surreal feeling of this is where we could happily live. The house met our needs: a ranch, flat lot, an open floor plan, easy update, large garage, trees, wildflowers in the woods, and the feeling of peace and fullfillness.

What do you love about the area:

The area hosts a variety of outdoor activities both on land and the water as well as numerous cultural events. Numerous historic events relevant to both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars took place in the area, Paleolithic script can be found on exposed boulders. There are hiking trails within a mile of the home. You can be as active as you want or as lay back as you want.

Anything else:

Clemson University, Furman University, and Bob Jones University are nearby as are several technical schools. The area also hosts a number of artists and crafters. Clemson University, Furman University, and Bob Jones University are nearby as are several technical schools. The area also hosts a number of artists and crafters. The local library offers different classes for adults and children. Try some Clemson blue cheesey umand visit the tunnel where it use to be made. If you like the casinos, try Cherokee in North Carolina.

What other things do you love / enjoy about the area:

The friendliness of the people is overwhelming. People smile, wave, shake hands, and always love to stop and chat if they know you or not. Within a short time you meet so many people that it's rare to go anywhere and not see one of your new friends. We are a four hour drive to Charleston and five hour to Hilton Head and Myrtle Beach. Edisto Island is our favorite off season road trip.

Hobbies:

We've spent a lot of time golfing at our home course as well as numerous other courses in the area. We both also read a lot and love spending time in Greenville. We belong to the Electric City Shag Club in Anderson. (The Shag is the official dance of South Carolina!) Dance lessons are available. Shaggers meet in Myrtle Beach twice a year, spring and fall, and party for 10 days! Blueberry picking at Happy Berry is something you need to try. We both volunteer at our local hospital, Cannon Memorial Hospital, to give back to our community because we've been so blessed to have this sixteen year adventure.

Utility costs:

Our home is totally electric and I love it. Less dust, even heat. In the sixteen years we've lived here, our bill is usually around $100.00 for heat/ac, water heater, cooking. Blue Ridge Electric Coop is our provider. Our area has underground wiring so no power lines. In case of any outage, Blue Ridge is great for quickly restoring service. The fireplace is converted to propane and gives off plenty of heat. Water is private and we are billed $96 quarterly. Any repairs attended to quickly. In the event of a problem we've had water when other homes haven't because we are closest to the pump. We keep a land line as cell coverage is sometimes a bit iffy and that's with AT&T. Our Uverse and WiFi is also AT&T. Of course the cost will depend on the services you select. We have the septic emptied about every two years. It was last done this spring by Chapman Septic. We have Table Rock Pest Control come in quarterly and spray inside and out. She does a great job and we've never had any issues with insects. She also checks for termites negative.
